A thrilling two-day journey to explore the pristine and remote corners of the Beagle Channel.
A unique adventure across a glacial valley, following the longest river on Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego to its mouth at the Beagle Channel. There, we begin our canoeing journey.
On the first day, we board a motorboat to visit two private nature reserves belonging to Harberton Ranch. At Martillo Island, we observe Magellanic and Gentoo penguins nesting in summer.
We continue to the stunning and wild Gable Island for a guided nature walk.
After camping overnight, the second day starts early with a sea kayak journey along the channel’s hidden shores until snack time.
Day 1 – From Ushuaia to Harberton Ranch
08:00 – Departure from Ushuaia heading east toward Harberton Ranch. After passing Tierra Mayor Valley and the native forest, we reach Bahía Brown with its stunning views of the Beagle Channel.
10:15 – Canoeing on the Lashifashaj River to the Beagle Channel.
Following a safety briefing and gear distribution (boots, splash pants, life jackets, paddles), we start paddling downstream. As we reach the channel, we are immersed in its history and vast scenery.
Led by expert guides and backed by years of experience, this is a safe and thrilling way to explore the channel’s nature and past.
12:15 – Transfer to the main house of Harberton Ranch.
Blending Yámana heritage with that of early Anglican settlers, we arrive at the ranch and port.
12:30 – Motorboat ride to Gable Island.
We visit Martillo and Gable Islands, two nature reserves of Harberton Ranch, located in one of the most remote eastern areas near Ushuaia.
12:50 – Visit to Martillo Island penguin colony.
Observing the penguins from the coast, we ensure minimal disturbance while appreciating their behavior in a peaceful environment.
13:30 – Arrival at Gable Island.
We reach the private natural reserve and, with our guides, delve into its untouched landscape and early history, predating tourism.
13:45 – Lunch with beverages included.
Menu: appetizers (pickles, olives, cheese), hake with rustic potatoes, panna cotta for dessert. Drinks, coffee, and tea included. Vegetarian and gluten-free options available on request.
15:00 – Hike around Gable Island.
This island represents early Fuegian history. From its cliffs, enjoy sweeping views of the Beagle Channel toward Ushuaia and near Puerto Williams.

Time to unwind, explore, and prepare tents for the night.
