On the second day, venture inland to discover the stunning Fagnano and Escondido Lakes, nestled deep in the heart of Tierra del Fuego’s rugged wilderness. Get ready to make the most of your time at the End of the World with this all-in-one experience!

ITINERARY

We’ll start our adventure along National Route No. 3, passing through the Río Pipo valley and the slopes of Monte Susana before arriving at the Austral Fueguino Railway station, a historic site where Ushuaia’s former prison inmates once gathered firewood.

At the station, visitors can explore the facilities and choose to take a ride on the End of the World Train (ticket not included), while others will continue the journey into Tierra del Fuego National Park. The group will reunite at the Park Station to continue exploring the park’s most breathtaking spots, including Roca Lake and Lapataia Bay, the southernmost point of National Route No. 3 and the Pan-American Highway.

At each stop, we’ll take short walks to appreciate the diverse native forest and local wildlife inhabiting Argentina’s southernmost national park.

After a break for lunch, we’ll embark on our next adventure—an unforgettable navigation through the Beagle Channel. Our journey takes us toward the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, a symbol of Ushuaia.

Along the way, we’ll pass through the Bridges archipelago, where we’ll observe colonies of sea lions and imperial cormorants. Other bird species such as gulls, petrels, albatrosses, and geese can also be spotted. If weather conditions allow, we’ll disembark on one of the islands for a short walk to explore the region’s unique flora and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Ushuaia and the surrounding mountains.

After visiting Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, we’ll return along the north coast of the Beagle Channel, passing Estancia Túnel, the Playa Larga Natural and Cultural Reserve, and the eastern outskirts of Ushuaia before disembarking at the pier. The rest of the evening will be free for you to explore the city at your own pace.

On the second day, we’ll depart Ushuaia along National Route No. 3, heading north through Tierra del Fuego’s stunning landscapes. As we cross the Fuegian Andes—one of the few mountain ranges in the world that runs west to east rather than north to south—we’ll pass through valleys covered in peat bogs, including the Carbajal, Tierra Mayor, and Las Cotorras valleys.

Reaching the Garibaldi Pass at 450 meters (1,476 feet) above sea level, we’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Escondido and Fagnano Lakes—an ideal photo opportunity to capture the beauty of this remote Patagonian landscape. At Lake Fagnano’s edge, we’ll take a short break to soak in the scenery and appreciate the tranquility of this untouched wilderness.

On our way back, we’ll stop to experience an authentic Patagonian culinary tradition: the famous Asado de Cordero Fueguino (Fuegian lamb barbecue). For those with different tastes, other menu options such as pasta and international dishes are available. Pair your meal with a glass of Malbec wine from Mendoza, and don’t miss the opportunity to try Café Montañés, a local specialty.

This excursion is one of the best ways to experience the heart of Tierra del Fuego. As weather conditions can change suddenly, we recommend wearing comfortable and layered clothing. During the winter season, the tour focuses exclusively on Escondido Lake, as heavy snowfall makes Fagnano Lake inaccessible. The region is also ideal for winter activities like Nordic skiing in the Tierra Mayor and Carbajal Valleys—be sure to check available options if visiting during the snowy months.

Please note that between May 1 and October 1, we will exclusively visit Escondido Lake due to winter conditions preventing access to Fagnano Lake.
