Experience the best of Tierra del Fuego National Park, including a ride on the incredible Train of the End of the World!
Tierra del Fuego National Park, at the southern tip of Argentina, offers stunning landscapes and unforgettable experiences. A highlight of any visit is the historic “Train of the End of the World” (Tren del Fin del Mundo).
This narrow-gauge steam railway winds through the breathtaking scenery of Tierra del Fuego, offering a journey rich in history and natural beauty. Originally built in the early 20th century to transport prisoners, it now serves as a tourist attraction, immersing visitors in the park’s forests, rivers, and mountains.
As the train travels through dense forests, past snow-capped peaks and clear rivers, passengers enjoy informative commentary about the railway’s past and the indigenous Yamana people who once lived in the region.
The journey includes stops at key points of interest within the park, allowing visitors to disembark and explore. Scenic trails lead to waterfalls, viewpoints, and other natural wonders, offering a closer look at the park’s diverse wildlife and landscapes.
This incredible journey begins along the renowned National Route No. 3, passing through the Río Pipo valley and the slopes of Monte Susana until we arrive at the Train of the End of the World station. This area was once used by inmates of the old Ushuaia prison for firewood collection.
After exploring the station, we’ll board a convoy following part of the original route of the historic prison train. The journey takes us across bridges and peat bogs, stopping at La Macarena waterfall for a brief introduction to the area. We’ll then continue into Tierra del Fuego National Park, reaching the site where the Lombardich sawmill once stood.
The train ride concludes at the “Park Station,” where our driver and guide will be waiting to continue the tour through the park’s most breathtaking landscapes. We’ll visit highlights such as Roca Lake and Lapataia Bay, where National Route 3—part of the Pan-American Route—comes to an end.
At each stop, we’ll take short walks to admire the diverse native forest and wildlife thriving in Argentina’s southernmost National Park. The excursion ends with a return to the city.
