This experience promises a fun, safe, and comfortable ride through the spectacular scenery of the Andes, surrounded by lush forests and the majestic Escondido and Fagnano Lakes.
The panoramic excursion includes a delicious lunch paired with Patagonian red wine, enjoyed in a cozy refuge nestled deep in the ancient forest — a perfect setting for an authentic connection with Tierra del Fuego’s largest lake.
ITINERARY
09:30 – Scenic drive through Carbajal and Tierra Mayor Valleys
Leaving Ushuaia, we head north along Route 3, passing through impressive glacial valleys framed by snow-covered forests and rugged peaks.
11:00 – Crossing the Andes on Route 3
As we drive through the Andes Mountains, the altitude gradually increases, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
11:30 – Garibaldi Pass: First panoramic view of Escondido Lake
From the Garibaldi Pass, we enjoy our first sweeping view of Escondido Lake, which we’ll explore from south to north.
12:30 – Off-road through the forest
Leaving Route 3 and Lake Escondido behind, we venture into the forest via an old sawmill access road. This ancient woodland, more than 7,000 years old, offers a mysterious and peaceful atmosphere as we begin our off-road adventure.
We won’t reveal too much about this part—some things are better experienced firsthand!
13:00 – Off-roading along Lake Fagnano
After crossing the Andes, we reach Lake Fagnano and begin driving west along its vast shoreline. With nearly 100 kilometers stretching across Tierra del Fuego, this lake reveals its secrets through each scenic stop.
At times, the route follows the rugged shore; when there’s no path, we go where few do—even crossing small streams by vehicle!
13:15 – Arrival at the forest refuge
Just 80 km from Ushuaia, we reach our hidden refuge in the heart of the forest. Here, it’s time to relax and recharge.
As we sip on a glass of Patagonian Malbec and enjoy some snacks, we take in the serenity of the surrounding nature just steps from the lake.
13:30 – Lunch (drinks included)
Lunch is served: traditional Argentine choripán, grilled steaks, salad, and dessert, accompanied by wine, soft drinks, and bottled water.
Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available with advance notice.
14:45 – Begin return journey
We bid farewell to Lake Fagnano—originally named Lake Cami or “big water”—and start our drive back to Ushuaia.
On the return trip, the soft winter light casts a magical glow over the mountains and valleys.
16:00 – Arrival in Ushuaia
We return to your hotel or a central location in town, carrying memories of an unforgettable adventure and a deeper connection with the natural wonders of Tierra del Fuego.
